reSITE festival gearing up - Register Now
In one month the reSITE festival will offer dozens of positive and inspiring stories about cities, architecture and urbanism. A programme for the general public will also be available.
Marginalised groups, unemployment, excessive traffic, little or conversely too much greenery, urban sprawl and a passive citizenry are among the problems that appear with near certainty in commissions for those who prepare land-use and strategic plans and which can be addressed by studies. On 19-20 June, the reSITE festival and professional conference, which will take place in the new spaces of Forum Karlín in Prague, will offer countless possibilities for addressing these phenomena. The organisers have again managed to attract from around the world outstanding speakers who will share their experience not only at the conference, but also in the course of several concurrent workshops.
UITP Metro Seminar 17-18 June 2014
Keeping ageing infrastructure fit for the 21st century
Metros are major capital assets of cities. Like any piece of infrastructure, they deteriorate over time, regardless of the routine maintenance efforts deployed. At some point, they need to be replaced or at least heavily refurbished.
Many metros in the world are around 40 years old and some are much older. If you do nothing, performance and safety will suffer. And if you don't do it properly and on time, service delivery will soon suffer, leading to dissatisfied customers, passenger and fare losses.
