An Urbanicity Alert for: Implementing the New Urban Agrenda 2017
A conference has been convened by a group of agencies active in the New Urban Agenda for the 4th and 5th May at the Melbourne Conference and Exhibition Centre.

The New Urban Agenda Conference organisers are pleased to publish the provisional conference program.

The conference provides the first opportunity to explore the global, regional, national and local implementation of the New Urban Agenda and an exciting opportunity to hear Dr Joan Clos, Under Secretary General and Executive Director of UN Habitat III.

Dr Clos is a leading global expert on urban issues and the future of cities and is responsible for the global implementation of the New Urban Agenda.

The conference will also provide:

  • Opportunity to participate in forging holistic solutions to urban issues including health, housing, transport, social and physical infrastructure and social inclusion.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the drafting of an initial roadmap for the Implementation of the New Urban Agenda
  • Opportunity to network and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary and cross-professional group of people engaged in all aspects of creating the ‘city for all’
  • Opportunity to join with and contribute to a community of New Urban Agenda practitioners from the governmental, private and social sectors and academics active in this field.

The conference will be of interest to those who work in planning, infrastructure, economic development, social inclusion, health, equalities and sustainable urban environments to explore the implications of the New Urban Agenda and begin the development of a roadmap for its implementation and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The New Urban Agenda Conference presenters are very pleased to announce that Dr Joan Clos, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director UN Habitat will open the conference: Implementing the New Urban Agenda: making cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

This represents a unique opportunity to hear in person from the Director of UN Habitat about the development and implementation of the New Urban Agenda and its global significance.

Dr Clos’ contribution will set the context for the conference in this important first stage of implementing the New Urban Agenda in Australasia and the Pacific region.
